Bridging the Funding Gap for Women in Conservation
Women for Conservation is thrilled to announce the launch of our Women for Conservation Circle Grant, opening February 1st, 2025. This initiative aims to support women-led conservation efforts in the Global South by providing critical seed funding to grassroots organizations that are driving change at the intersection of gender equality and biodiversity conservation.
Access to conservation funding remains a significant barrier for women-led and Indigenous-led environmental initiatives, particularly in the Global South. To bridge this gap, Women for Conservation provides seed funding grants ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 USD to support eligible grassroots initiatives.
This funding is designed to empower women and strengthen conservation efforts in biodiversity hotspots, ensuring that those on the frontlines of environmental protection have the resources they need to succeed.
Who Can Apply?
We are seeking new global partners—women-led grassroots organizations and Indigenous-led groups that align with our mission of conservation through community-driven efforts.
Applicants must:
- Be a women-led environmental organization or have projects led by women that directly empower local women.
- Be based in the Global South (Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, or Oceania) or be an Indigenous-led group.
- Work to protect species listed on the IUCN Red List as Critically Endangered (CR), Endangered (EN), Vulnerable (VU), or Near Threatened (NT).
- Have a women’s empowerment component, whether social, economic, or community-based.
Organizations that integrate environmental education, women’s rights advocacy, or sustainable livelihood components will be given special consideration.
A Growing Global Network
Women for Conservation currently supports grassroots partners in Colombia, Bolivia, Sierra Leone, Madagascar, and Nepal. Through this Open Call, we seek to expand our impact by bringing more women-led organizations into our network, fostering collaboration and shared learning among conservation leaders worldwide.
