Kormos’s book highlights the story of our founders, Sara Inés Lara and Isabella Cortés, and other inspiring women conservationists.

We are proud to share that the book Intertwined: Women, Nature, and Climate Justice, written by conservation primatologist Rebecca Kormos, was awarded the 2025 Gold Medal in the Environment/Ecology category of the Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards), one of the most prestigious international awards in the independent publishing field.

This book tells the stories of women from different parts of the world who are transforming their communities through conservation and climate action. Among them is the inspiring story of our founders, Sara Lara and Isabella Cortés, who promote the work of women in conservation in Colombia and around the globe, strengthening the leadership of rural and indigenous women in the protection of biodiversity and the building of a fairer and more sustainable future.

The book highlights that the inclusion of women in conservation and climate science is essential to addressing the environmental challenges of the planet,
showing how their participation translates into better results in forest management, the reduction of conflicts over natural resources and the mitigation of climate change.

We celebrate this recognition that amplifies the voices of women who protect nature, and we reaffirm our commitment to continue working for conservation with a focus on gender equity and climate justice.
